
The Inc. 5000 list has been in existence since 1982 and highlights the fastest growing companies in the nation. It has become a hallmark for entrepreneurial success and according to Inc., “has included companies such as Microsoft, Timberland, Vizio, Intuit, Chobani, Oracle, and Patagonia” in its prestigious past. The 2019 Inc. 5000 is ranked based off percentage revenue growth between 2015 and 2018. The qualifications require each company be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit and independent as well as founded and recorded revenues by March 31, 2015. Additionally, the minimum revenues recorded can not be less than $100,000 in 2015 and not less than $2 million in 2018.
The companies that made up the 2019 Inc. 5000 list were represented in 49 of the 50 states (including Porto Rico), which generated a combined $237.7 billion of revenue. This translates into the companies on the list averaging $47.5 million of revenue in 2018 with an astounding average three-year growth of 157.4%.
According to Inc.’s editor in Chief, “the companies on this years Inc. 5000 have followed so many different paths to success. There’s no single course you can follow or investment you can take that will guarantee this kind of spectacular growth. But what they have in common is persistence and seizing opportunity.”
